Steven Spielberg missed out on directing a James Bond film because producers feared he’d want a large cut of the profits. Former 007, Roger Moore, has revealed that Spielberg was interested in directing him in a Bond film and told him so during a chance encounter in a French hotel. Moore recalls, “He was a huge Bond fan and said that he would love to direct one of the films. He’d recently had great success with Jaws and Close Encounters and was considered hot property.” Moore admits he put the idea to Bond franchise producer Cubby Broccoli and was astonished when the latter turned to him and asked, “Do you know how much of a percentage he’d want?”
