DeGeneres, Rossi wed

There was much dancing: TV show host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi are married, according to reports. In the biggest celebrity union since California legalized same-sex marriage, DeGeneres, 50, and de Rossi, 35, wed Saturday night in an intimate ceremony at their Beverly Hills home, People and Us Magazine reported. After the California Supreme Court’s ruling in May, the talk-show host announced that she and de Rossi would wed after four years together. DeGeneres said after winning her fourth consecutive Daytime Emmy for talk show host in June that a date had not been set, and that she would show “a tiny bit” of the nuptials on her show.

Woman in hospital after chicken attack:

An Italian woman landed in hospital after she was attacked by a chicken she was preparing to kill for dinner. The bird kicked out as Lucia Pisani was about to cut its head off. She reeled backwards and fell into the pot of boiling water she was going to cook it in.

Prince Harry worked as bouncer in bar:

Believe it or not, Prince Harry even worked as a bouncer at a bar while he was in Africa helping build a school for AIDS orphans with some of his colleagues in the army. The 23-year-old Prince pestered British-born landlord Brian Sables to let him be a bouncer at Hopinn Bar in Lesotho after he fell for a T-shirt which one of the serving security guards at the outlet was wearing. “Harry took a fancy to the uniform straight away and asked me, ‘how do I get one?’. I said, ‘you only get one of these if you work in the bar.’ “He said, ‘I can do any job going’”.

Woman accused of beating fiance :

A woman was jailed after beating up her fiance at their prenuptial party. Officers said the woman’s 12-year-old son told her he saw her fiance kissing one of her women friends. The woman told her fiance to leave and then started hitting him. When he left the house she tackled him football-style, punched him and broke his glasses.

Twilight film to fill Harry Potter slot:

Twilight — the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s teen vampire novels is to be released early by Warner Brothers as a replacement for the delayed Harry Potter film. The film’s US release was to be on December 12 but has been pushed forward to November 21. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been pushed back to July 2009.
