Cruise not a choice for Top Gun sequel

Movie bosses have denied reports that Tom Cruise is preparing to reprise his role in a sequel to his hit 1986 movie, Top Gun. The actor had reportedly been asked to resume his role as fighter-pilot Maverick, returning to the Top Gun school as a flight instructor — 22 years after the original film. But a spokesperson for the studio behind Top Gun says there is “no way” Cruise will be signing up for the new project.
According to reports, Cruise’s spokesperson has confirmed that the actor will not be returning for a sequel to the movie.
