Hollywood movie The Changeling actress Angelina Jolie has sparked off rumours that she’s had plastic surgery done on her face after she was seen with marks on her neck while filming her next movie in Venice. Angelina Jolie seemed to have two large tucks of skin underneath her right ear, with the skin appearing sore and reddish. Experts say that the 34-year-old star may have undergone what is known as a ‘ribbon lift’, the latest surgery that has caught the fancy of Hollywood.
The 4,000 pounds procedure is thought to be behind pop superstar Madonna’s wrinkle-free skin. It involves having a small cut made near the earlobe so a thread of absorbable ribbon can be implanted. Plastic surgeon Abel Mounir told The People magazine, “It looks as though she’s received the ribbon treatment from the gathering of skin just below her earlobe.”
“But the picture makes it look as though the fixed mechanism of the ribbon has snapped, resulting in the Ushaped indent under the skin. Even if she has not had the ribbon face-lift specifically, it appears she has definitely had some minimal invasive surgery done,” Mounir said.
Jolie has always denied going under the knife. After giving birth to her 19-month-old twins with partner Brad Pitt the actress even opted for a ‘natural’ photo shoot, shunning airbrushing and make-up.
WHAT IS RIBBON LIFT ?
Arube like device is placed underneath the skin. This tube has lots of tiny hooks on it that attach itself to the muscle and tissue under the skin. When the tube is pulled up, it lifts the entire facial area. The tube is actually called an ‘Endotine Ribbon’ device, hence why the cosmetic procedure is known as the ‘ribbon lift’. Hooks actually line just the one side of the ribbon and the whole device is made from an absorbable material which dissolves over time, so once the ribbon has been ‘lifted’, no more surgery will be required to remove the device. It normally takes between 6 and 12 months for the ribbon to fully dissolve. Although this cosmetic surgery procedure shares similarities with the thread lift, neither the actual operation or the device used is the same.
