Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has confessed that her split from boyfriend Raffaello Follieri has made her a stronger person. Hathaway broke up with the Italian businessman shortly before he was arrested on fraud and money laundering charges. It is also believed that Hathaway helped the Federal Bureau of Investigation to nab him.

Bakery fined for serving pie filled with metal slivers:

A New Zealand bakery was ordered to pay more than $7,700 for selling a pie with a dangerous filling - metal slivers. A customer, Brendon Love, needed emergency surgery to remove a metal shaving from his stomach after eating a contaminated breakfast pie in August last year, New Zealand’s food safety authority told a court. Researchers at Canterbury University found a faulty can opener caused the metal slivers.

British soul singer Joss Stone is set to sing a theme song for US presidential candidate Barack Obama’s election campaign. Obama has asked Stone to record one song for his campaign. ‘Porn inspector’ demands free videos:

A man claiming to be a police detective tried to get an adult novelty shop to give him free X-rated videos, saying he wanted to make sure the performers weren’t underage, authorities said. He made three tries within nine days and was turned down each time. Authorities said on Monday that the man showed a badge and left a business card from the “age verification unit.” Police officer Tim Lewis said there is no such unit.

Bangladesh teacher sacked for haircuts:

A Bangladeshi teacher has been sacked after he chopped off chunks of his students’ hair to punish them for being naughty, the school’s headmaster said on Monday. Aminul Islam told AFP that the teacher got snipping because he could not control the pupils, aged 14 and 15. “Faruq Hossain took out a pair of scissors and began cutting his students’ hair. In total he gave 14 students a haircut, one after the other,” he said. “They were shocked and stunned.” Authorities investigated the incident at the Satkhira government school following complaints from parents, Islam said.

Diaz is top-earning actress:

Cameron Diaz earned some $50 million over the past year to take the title of Hollywood’s topearning actress on Forbes annual list, the business magazine reported on Monday. In total, Hollywood’s 10 top-earning actresses collectively banked $244.5 million between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008, the report said. Diaz’s main earnings came from her lucrative role as princess-turned-ogre in DreamWorks’ Shrek franchise.
